Rest the Cup. See the Lake.

New Post (52) : Rest the Cup. See the Lake.

Here’s an interesting analogy explaining---
---the difference between religion and spirituality.
It’s totally complete in its message.

The search for spiritual understanding is “like drinking from a vast lake”.
Sitting by the lakeside the spiritual seeker is quenching his thirst for knowledge and understanding by drinking from the clear cool waters.
The drinker may seem alone in his quest, but, he is not. It’s just that the lake is so vast.
This personal act of drinking at the lake is likened in the analogy to spirituality.

Religion in the analogy is “merely the cup” we were given or chose to drink from the lake.
The cups come in a variety of shapes, colors, designs, materials. Each cup has a name too. To distinguish it from “other” cups. Each cup comes with a set of it’s own obligatory set of rules of usage.
You may of course change cups. You may altogether abandon usage of all cups. You may choose not to drink !

What follows is …a question that answers itself.
Does one need a cup at all …and how much more refreshing it would be just to dive into the lake …and immerse your self in its refreshing waters.
