Free massage at airports

New Post (43) : Free massage at airports

Can’t avoid looking at the sunny side of full body scans ...and pat down searches.

On arrival at the airport, you get a free welcome massage.

How about a welcome drink (too) !

Not Ok with you ?

You think your rights are being violated ?

Take the train, bus or drive instead of taking a flight.
Or better still stay home.

These security measures are a dire necessity of our times.

Is the "Law of the Sea" in force ?

New Post (42) : Is the "Law of the Sea" in force ?

The Law of the Sea (LOS) is …

a comprehensive treaty covering territorial sea limits, navigational rights, the legal status of the ocean's resources, economic jurisdictions, protection of the marine environment, marine research, and other facets of ocean management. It attempted to address the existing conflicts over the oceans. After its adoption, some called it "possibly the most significant legal instrument of this (the twentieth) century."

The treaty established legal principles governing ocean space, its uses and resources. The Law of the Sea treaty also set up a binding procedure for settling disputes between nations and established the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. Nations could now take other nations to court over perceived violations of international convention. The treaty also recognized the right to conduct marine scientific research. It addresses the main sources of ocean pollution: land and coastal activities, continental shelf drilling, seabed mining, ocean dumping, and vessel-source pollution.

The Law of the Sea also established the International Seabed Authority, which regulates activities in the deep seabed beyond national jurisdictions.

Question remains---Is the "Law of the Sea" in force ?

The Bollywood of USA ? Hollywood !

New Post (41) : The Bollywood of USA ? Hollywood !

Interesting thought. Yet far from reality. Hollywood rules by far.

Point is---The Bollywood-Hollywood gap can indeed be closed.

My 7 point mantra for business mangers at Bollywood :

1. If song and dance sequences sell then make it your USP.
Reinforce it. Get even better at it.

2. Focus distribution abroad on non-English speaking markets around the world.
Not just on pockets of emigrant population.

3. Work on developing other revenue streams i.e. from merchandising.

4. Adopt the latest available technology and upgrade technology with a vengeance.

5. Revive "experimental" cinema to run alongside the mainstream “masala” fare.
Important to stay "credible".
The tradition for it exists. But has been allowed to lay dormant.

6. Do a (much) better job of pre-selling movies. Leverage music to achieve this.
Commit budgets to it.

7. Most importantly…(avoid the commercial urge to be a "me too” glitz and glam offering)

Base the “themes” of your movies on ever lasting / eternal, universal human “values”.
(in the backdrop of ever changing societies everywhere , in a constant churn and turmoil.)

Provide a sense / reassurance, hope if you like, of “permanence”, of “stability”.

Beneath the veneer of the “song & dance” --- Be the moral & ethical standard bearer for a better world !

A movie without a message is like---POPCORN !
Now do not ask me to explain that analogy. Go figure...
