Mr Obama Sir – “Take care of the American homeless veterans first”.

New Post (167) : Mr Obama Sir – “Take care of the American homeless veterans first”.

WAR - can destroy both body and mind (and life) of a soldier, something seldom spoken about.

Some people join the armed services in hopes of having financial stability once they are done with their duty. Unfortunately some of them end up on the streets. That is a problem, which is expected to get even worse as more and more service members return from YOUR war/S, to a dire economic situation with very few job prospects.

Every soldier says, my recruiter lied to me,” “It’s just something that we all know. The reality is, you’re less likely to find a job when you get out of the military, despite promises that you’re more marketable on the job market.”

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mike Mullen, recently expressed concern over the creation of a generation of homeless veterans, a practical and moral burden for the US for decades to come. Despite the warning, some conservative lawmakers like Michele Bachman have proposed cutting funding for veterans. That is something that is insulting to proud American veterans.

I say---Take care of the American homeless veterans first and only then set out to take care of the world. The banks you have bailed out with Billions of $’s of tax payer money could be asked to make houses available to homeless veterans.

That for a change …would be …change that we would love to believe in.

I am personally deeply disappointed in your Presidency.

The pronunciation of haute couture ?

New Post (166) : The pronunciation of haute couture ?

The French word haute sounds like "oat" (the H is silent), and then koo-toor.

Say it……… (yea)……..(you got it)…….(that was quick)……..

The term is pronounced in many different ways, as it is a French term but often spoken in English context.

A certain French man by the name of Mr.Sarkozy (sir crazee) took it upon himself “un-provoked” and “un-invited”, to appoint himself as the tutor for haute couture to the Libyan people.
~~~Whether the Libyan’s like it or not is “entirely” their problem.
He is dressing the Libyan’s down first (in order) to (then) dress them up.
~~~Whether the Libyan’s like it or not is their problem “only”.

His idea of hi-fashion is almost certainly not suited to an Arab north-Africa.
His lesson in hi-fashion (“the aerial bomber-sortie of fashion”) is taking lives. Libyan lives.
He (sir crazee) cares ? ? ? No. No. No.

To my vintner friends in (southern) France I have this to say. When those “killed” in Libya are finally counted --- remember who started “this moronic, maniacal, madness of war mongering” against Libya. ...........Vote him out.

Tunisia and Egypt may have been practice matches. This one is the real game. The bigger games (yet to come) will be a ………. “Humbling Challenge”.

Everyone can see that. Except this one (sir crazee) man “who lives in a palace”.

Vote for the independents.

New Post (165) : Vote for the independents.

Citizens have been reduced to hapless voiceless sufferers…seeking comfort in drafting and signing on-line petitions.
It gives us the (false) feeling --- of being in some manner - in control.

I'd gladly put my signature on a petition on a roll of (t….t) paper as long as the great wall (of China) and as tall as the Qutub minar (of India) if that would change anything at all - in India.

I have a simple solution to the mess that is India.
For once---Vote en masse for any candidate not belonging to the (currently) ruling Congress party and the main opposition BJP party.

Vote only for independent candidates...with no party affiliation.

I think the USA too would benefit from not voting for either of the Democrats or the Republicans.

The same is true for all democracies (that have been hijacked by their own politicians).

Go for Independents. Reclaim your independence. (else stop complaining !)

Indian Citizen's Ombudsman Bill.

New Post (164) : Indian Citizen's Ombudsman Bill.

Indian’s are absolutely fed up…of the malaise of corruption.

In two hundred cities across India on Tuesday, thousands of college students, young executives and housewives joined a campaign that asks the government to enact an important new law to fight corruption.

At the centre of the movement is respected social activist Anna Hazare who has begun a hunger strike that he says will not end till the government proves its commitment to the Jan Lokpal Bill [Citizen's Ombudsman Bill].

What the government has proposed in its draft, he and other activists say on the website, indiaagainstcorrpution.org, is "complete eyewash". Rather than strengthen anti-corruption systems, it demolishes whatever exists in the name of anti-corruption systems today. It seeks to --- completely insulate politicians from any kind of action against them."

Unless civil society plays a role in drafting the law, Mr Hazare believes, it will change nothing.

This popular and spontaneous peoples movement is the first ever mass action that has challenged their incorrigible blatantly corrupt politicians. Better late than never. It's now or never...

The shameless, spineless, skunks are about to witness "the power of the people at full steam".

News vs “imagination”.

New Post (163) : News vs “imagination”.

The following is an as is copy paste of a news item I chanced upon on the Web.
This may be information. It may well be pure “imagination”.
The point I’d like to make is just this---“WHO KNOWS” !

[Also, that “manufacturing fear” seems to be the newest (toy) weapon in the hands of some "idle" creative-minded netizens.]

Read on …
News World Wide has received a confirmed inside information a successful test of the H.A.A.R.P. Project that targeted Japan as a total success. Military insiders say that H.A.A.R.P. scientist were over joyed when the direct hit of harmonic waves that hit the cost of Japan that triggered a 8.9 Richter scale earthquake causing a devastating tsunami Friday, March 11, 2011 at 05:46:23 UTC . Many at the H.A.A.R.P project are still celebrating there new global weapon system that can deliver anything from adverse weather conditions to hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes, and even manipulating human minds. The source said that they now control all electromagnetic wave lengths and this latest test further proves that one global hidden dictator can now dominate the world. The source would not comment on who this was. He also stated that the next target will be the center earth. If this test is successful they hope to explode the earth completely unless all demands are met with all countries. Apparently something more is going on behind the scenes. The source would not comment any further why Japan was a target.
News World Wide has confirmed these sources of an active H.A.A.R.P. Test on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 05:46:23 UTC .

A "disturbing" thought (though is that): Technology in the military domain is said to be 30-40 years ahead of that which is known and in common use in the public & consumer domain. (so does that time lag explain --- the unexplained sighting of UFO's !)

The "conspiracy theorists" are at it again....fear mongering....sans a discernible motive this time around.

Role of Moderator in a nuclear reactor

New Post (162) : Role of Moderator in a nuclear reactor

Never too late to get an education.

A nuclear reactor containing only fuel elements would be unusable because a chain reaction could probably not be sustained within it. The reason is that nuclear fission occurs best with neutrons that move at relatively modest speeds, called thermal neutrons. But the neutrons released from fission reactions tend to be moving very rapidly, at about 1/15 the speed of light. In order to maintain a chain reaction, therefore, it is necessary to introduce some material that will slow down the neutrons released during fission. Such a material is known as a moderator.
The most common moderators are substances of low atomic weight such as heavy water (deuterium oxide) or graphite. Hydrides (binary compounds containing hydrogen), hydrocarbons, and beryllium and beryllium oxide have also been used as moderators in certain specialized kinds of reactors.

Think of a nuclear reactor as “a nuclear bomb on a leash”.
The wisdom of building a nuclear reactor in populated areas is “questionable”.
Any of many circumstance(s) can cause the “leash” to snap. (as we are seeing)

We can't do without nuclear power. (it has to be a part of the mix)
Just need to be --- sensible about siting /location and strict about operator training (for worst case scenarios).

The proposed standards for stress tests and the stress tests to follow are a movement in the right direction

Life goes on. Has to.

Off to the Sea of Okhotsk

New Post (161) : Off to the Sea of Okhotsk

Folks,

I started this blog on the 10th Oct. (5 months ago).
After logging 160 posts I am taking a break from writing for a while.

Only to pursue my interest in trekking on float ice in the sea of Okhotsk.

Tucked between Siberia and Russia’s frozen Kamchatka Peninsula, the Sea of Okhotsk is at the same latitude as the Gulf of Alaska, but unlike the Gulf, the sea freezes between October and March. Fresh water from rivers like the Amur dilutes the relatively shallow, salty sea and raises the temperature at which ice can form. During the winter, the Sea of Okhotsk is beset by frigid air from the Siberian landmass, and this creates large ice floes that cover much of the sea.

Catch my blog when I am back. If I (manage to) get back.

Cheers,

Charlie Brown
